ROOTS TOURISM

Presentation:

A journey to discover their own Calabrian roots, dedicated to the Calabrian emigrants and their discendents, through experience that goes to their genealogical research, to the visit of their hometown until arriving to tour in the most authentic Calabria to learn more about food and wine, traditions, customs, art, culture and landscapes.

Description:

The proposal concerns individual stays or groups that share the “calabresità” that goes for one or two weeks. The package is however customizable and modular.

The proposal includes:

-stay in a tourist accommodation (agriturismo or four star hotel)
-full board treatment
-transfer
-guided tour in French in the most evocative Calabrian location on the historical-cultural level, landscaped level, gastronomic level, folklore level and artisanal level, bounded by tradition, with direct experience of participation to activities typical of the places visited.
-visit to the own hometown
-entrance tickets planned along the itineraries
-assistance on-site for any need

Genealogical research services may be provided on request (documents at registry office, churches, reconstruction of family trees, surveys on your hometown, search for relatives, pictures, ect…)

Package of one week 

( every period of the year).

1st day

Transfer from Lamezia Terme airport to the tourist accommodation (agriturismo/hotel in the province of Cosenza) –welcome, show of welcome( for groups), dinner overnight stay.

2nd day

Full day guided tour in Cosenza (old part and modern part), avisit to the laboratory of fresh pasta, typical lunch of the place, getting back to the structure for dinner and overnight stay.

3rd day

A full day visit at the hometown. In the case of a group every family unit will be taken and guided in their own hometown which will be necessary to have information before the arrival in order to better organize the visit. In the visit a meeting with the mayor or a delegated, meeting with the relatives, tour in the town (churches, monuments, typical products). On request it will be possible to provide for individual a longer stay at the hometown of the planned tours. After lunch, going back to the structure for dinner and overnight stay.

4th day

Guided tour in the cellar with a walk in the vineyards and wine-tasting, cheese and cold cuts tasting. In the afternoon free time (transfer from structure and return), dinner and overnight stay in hotel/agriturismo.

5th day

Full day guided tour with traditional lunch included at Fiumefreddo-Paola-Diamante with visit of the towns, as well as, places of historical-culture interest and places of faith, even the stores of chili pepper, of cedar and typical handicrafts; or guided tour of Tropea-Pizzo with traditional lunch included, with tasting of the traditional Tartufo; getting back to the structure for dinner time and then overnight stay.

6th day

Full day guided tour with traditional lunch atSila included (a visit to theCupone, dairy laboratory) then San Giovanni in Fiore (museum of emigration, master goldsmiths and precious weaving); or tour in the villages of Pollino (Morano and Civita); getting back in the structure for dinner and overnight stay.

7th day

Transfer at the Airport of LameziaTerme for departure.

 Package of 2 weeks 

(every period of the year) ( mainly intended for groups; for individual stay, after the first week- 1st package – we suggest half board overnight stay or full board in absolute freedom with service of transfer and tour on request).

1st day 

Transfer from the Airport of LameziaTerme to the tourist accommodation (agriturismo/hotel in the province of Cosenza) – welcoming, (for groups), dinner, overnight stay.

2nd day

Full day guided tour all around the city of Cosenza (old part and modern part), visit at the laboratory of fresh pasta, typical lunch, getting back to the structure for dinner and overnight stay.

3rd day

A full day visit at the hometown. In the visit a meeting with the major or a delegated, meeting with the relatives, tour in the town (churches, monuments, typical products). On request it will be possible to provide for the individual stay a longer stay at the hometown in place of the planned tours. Then traditional lunch, after lunch, departure to the structure for dinner and overnight stay.

4th day

Guided tour in the cellar in the province of Cosenza (Donnici) with a walk in the vineyards and wine-tasting, cheese and cold cuts tasting. In the afternoon free time to go shopping (transfer from structure and return), dinner and overnight stay in hotel/agriturismo.

5th day 

Full day guided tour with traditional lunch included at Fiumefreddo-Paola-Diamante with visit of the towns, as well as places of historical-culture interest and places of faith, even the stores of chili pepper, of cedar and typical handicrafts; or tour at San Nicola Arcella and Praia a Mare.

6th day

Full day guided tour with traditional lunch included in Sila(visit center Cupone, dairy laboratory) then San Giovanni in Fiore (museum of emigration, master goldsmiths and precious weaving); or tour in the villages of Pollino (Morano and Civita); getting back in the structure for dinner and overnight stay.

7th day 

Transfer at the tourist accommodation in the province of Vibo Valentia or Reggio Calabria, free time for the day to relax or go shopping (eventual transfer service for the center).

8th day

Guided tour at Tropea-Pizzo included with traditional lunch, with the tasting of the traditional Tartufo; return in the structure for dinner and overnight stay; or guided tour at Reggio Calabria (museum, walk on the seafront).

9th day 

Full day tour in a fishing tourism and at the hamlet of Scilla and Chianalea with traditional lunch-return in the structure for dinner and overnight stay.

10th day

Tour at a traditional religious event, gastronomic or folklore (it depends from the dates and the places): festivals, historical re – enactments or patronal festival with lunch or dinner in the structure and vice versa lunch or dinner in the places of the events.

11th day

Visit at typical local production of nduja, stockfish, tuna ect…

12th day 

Guided tour in the cellar in the province of Crotone (Cirò) with a walk in the vineyards and wine-tasting, cheese and cold cuts tasting; return for dinner and overnight stay.

13th day 

Free day (lunch in hotel) pizza night

14th day

Transfer at the Airport for departure.
